It's my understanding that it is allowed when you're inbounding from the baseline across the court from your goal after a made basket, whether it's a free throw or other field goal--as long as it's thrown along the baseline and the other guy is in bounds. Unless the HS rule is different from college or NBA, it's allowed as far as I know.

It wasn't after a made basket. Honaker had thrown the ball out of bounds.

Just kidding..but you never take away a chance for a kid to score and in place, let him have the ball out of bounds......you Would take away a 90% chance of making a layup and let him shoot freethrows and at best he makes 60-70% in high school???? Come on. That is not smart, not smart at all.

Coaches are supposed to coach their kids to make their free throws--if you call the game by the rule and my kid goes to the line to shoot, and he doesn't make them both--then it's on me for not pushing "make your free throws" hard enough, and on the kid for missing them. I can't complain about you because you made the right call, and we didn't make our free throws.

However, if you blow the call and the defender is fouling the offensive player and you don't call it--your "90%" layup gets a lot harder in mid-foul. Then...as a coach...I'd have a beef with you if the kid doesn't convert, because you let the foul go by, and we have no points to show, and the defender got away with a foul w/o it being called when it should have been.
